ELIC HONEYCUTT

Elic Honeycutt, 76, died at 12:24 p.m. Friday at Wabash County Hospital. Mr. Honeycutt had resided in Wabash for 40 years and had worked as a janitor at Wabash High School, retiring in 1975 after 11 years. He was born May 7, 1915, in Johnson County,Ky to Johnny and Christina Webb Honeycutt. On May 5, 1935, in Van Lear,Ky., he married Mae Music. She survives. In addition to his work at Wabash High School, he had worked at Midwest Rock Wool, and Eagle Pitcher Rock Wool, both in Wabash. Before coming to Wabash he had worked as a coal miner in Van Lear, Ky., and Mann, W.Va. Mr. Honeycutt was a member of the Erie Street Freewill Baptist Church and served as deacon in three area churches: Southside Freewill Baptist, Fifteen (now Emmauel) Freewill Baptist and LaFontaine Freewill Baptist Church. Besides his wife, survivors include two sons -- Johnny and Jeral, both of Wabash, and a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Elsie) Banks, of Van Lear. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Erie Street Freewill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Bobby Webb and Bill Bowling officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen-Miner Funeral Home. Preferred memorials are to the Erie Street Freewill Baptist Church.
